Demi Moore
Culver City, CA 1992 1
Demi Moore, Los Angeles CA, 1992. At this point in my career, Demi was the moment—professionally, personally…and, let’s be honest, physically. Shooting her was a big deal for me, even if it was for the supermarket women’s magazine Redbook, which meant playing it safe. But I wanted more. In the studio, she was stunning, of course, glowing under my beauty lighting. But my usual sensibility told me that I needed more, something for contrast. We went outside to an alley and shot her leaning against a beat-up old truck, which pulled the shoot together for me. As I moved around her shooting the picture I caught her reflection in the side-view mirror, and that was it—that was the image.
Back then, Hollywood loved young, beautiful women…until they didn’t. There was always this idea that beauty had an expiration date, that women got tossed aside after a certain age. But Demi shattered that mold. Still here. Still the moment. And up for an Oscar in 2025.
