Meat Loaf
NYC, 2002 1
Meat Loaf, Los Angeles CA, 1998. Meatloaf was the sweetest guy - everybody who met him loved him. He expelled so much energy in every performance, and he was really brilliant on stage. He used to puff oxygen in the wings in the middle of his concerts, because despite his health issues, he always gave everything he had and needed to keep going.
He had this look about him that was so unique for a rock star, and in a photograph he could fit into almost any time period - he was really the perfect subject. So when we shot in LA, I borrowed this old car from a friend and put him in a conservative suit. He sat in the backseat, and I captured him from the front with the camera just peering over at him. His reaction was really poignant - it evoked this timeless emotion. The picture was timely... or maybe it’s from another time. But it was both of those things that I saw from behind the lens, that we were able to capture in that moment.
Each photograph is produced as an archival pigment print on Canson Platine Fibre Rag paper. All prints are hand-signed by the artist and offered as editioned Artist Proofs (A/P).
Since prints and frames are made on an order basis, prints will ship approximately 2–3 weeks after order is placed regardless of the shipping method chosen. An email will be sent with the tracking information once the print ships. Delivery will regularly take between 3-5 business days.
