Paul Reubens, Los Angeles CA, 1989. Would you believe that I shot this just one week before he got arrested in the movie theater? The odds of that seem unimageinable, so it was an interesting image to have captured beforehand. Him holding a weenie...pretty much on the nose. I then called him up after he got arrested, and I was like, “Paul, this picture...Rolling Stone is gonna do a piece on you. This has to be the cover, right?” I mean, it was just fucking perfect. He laughed, and he paused for a long time. Then he said, “Look, I agree with you. It would be great, but I just can’t.” I understood, but it was unfortunate. Things like that don’t happen twice. RIP PeeWee
Each photograph is produced as an archival pigment print on Canson Platine Fibre Rag paper. All prints are hand-signed by the artist and offered as editioned Artist Proofs (A/P).
